I'm sorry for the tmpeg logo in first 10 seonds, but after trying 6 programs to convert wmv into avi, I gave up and in the end took the one with best results *sigh* Anyone knows good, free program to convert asf/wmv files??

Umm you can try downloading Total Video Converter from torrent?
I use this:

(not sure it converts the types of files you spoke about)

The link that watchful gave is really useful and i'm sure that it converts .wmv into .avi. I don't know about .asf files though.
